A shaggy mane and big floppy ears, two of Owen's furry pals. Owens little cheeks are just so kissable. That sweet gummy smile with those two tiny teeth. I love to brush back his soft hair growing over his ears. His big hiccups when he laughs at daddy. He is just so sweet. I love him so much!

A weekend away
The weekend before last we drove a couple hours away to spend some family time together. It was our first little getaway with just the three of us. We moseyed around a fun shopping center most of the day, Owen's highlight was watching the big water fountain. He's such a water baby. We got a fancy hotel on Priceline and checked in early to hangout together. Owen enjoyed rolling around on the big king size bed. We got pizza from a near by restaurant, brought it back to our room and snuggled up for a relaxing night.
Paul and I want to remember to make it a priority to get time together as a family. I remember one time, we had been married a couple years, Paul surprised me with a night at a new hotel in town. We laughed when we could see our apartment from our hotel room. When I was younger, on my dad's day off, we would have a "cabin day". We would go to the store to get previsions and then go back home and pretend like we were at a cabin. No phones, no internet, just family time together.

Not banana
After Owen had rice cereal for a couple of days, and loved it, we were excited to let him try something new. His doctor said banana was a good place to start. I was so exited for him to try some real food. We sat him down and put a little in his mouth and instantly, looks of disgust, gaging and spitting it out. He is not a fan of banana. We tried making sure it was warm, a thin consistency and even just mixing a tiny drop of it with his rice cereal. No banana for him. Now that we tried the banana a couple of times with the rice cereal he doesn't even want to eat the rice cereal plain anymore. You would think all babies would like bananas. Maybe we will try some carrots next.

Another glimpse
Here is another glimpse at our San Diego trip. Paul and his brothers had fun surfing and catching up. Normally the guys go surfing most days but there was a high surf advisory. We went to Ocean Beach Pier one afternoon to watch the big waves. There was lots of time at the beach, playing games and hanging out.

San Diego visit
The three of us just got home from a little trip to San Diego. Paul's parents are moving to Canada soon so we went to spend time with them. Owen also got to meet his relatives from North Carolina for the first time.
One of my favorite moments was at an ocean look out. While I feed Owen, Paul went and found a coffee shop to get me an iced decaf mocha and tiramisu, then we sat on a cement barrier together watching the waves and sharing our tiramisu.
I think Owen is going to be a beach baby. He has always loved water and both times he has been to the ocean he was so intrigued by it all. Seagulls flying over head, sounds of crashing waves, slimy seaweed, sunlight beaming across the water, he loved it.
