For my 27th birthday

He took me on a surprise trip to the city to stay at a beautiful boutique hotel. We relaxed in our room and explored around town.
We shopped at antique stores and a mall. I found vintage hankies and tablecloths to make something beautiful with on my new sewing machine from my parents. I got some awesome green shorts and a hippie-ish maxi skirt.
He took me out to a fancy restaurant in old town for my birthday dinner. They had the most amazing honeydew sorbet they brought us in between courses. It was one of the best dinners I have ever had! It was the same restaurant my grandparents took my mother on her 21st birthday.
Before we left town he had been running around town and working away in the back bedroom. When I opened my gift I got to see what he had spent all of his time working on. He wrote me a poem and made me a memory book with photos from over the years. He was so thoughtful and sweet.

It was an amazing birthday! Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes and love!

4 years together

Paul and I have been married for 4 years now! We had a romantic and beautiful day together on our anniversary in Fort Bragg. I am so grateful to have him as my husband and my best friend. We have made so many memories in these 4 years together. I am excited for the rest of my life with you, I love you Paul!

We have already been home for almost a week. I have been looking through our pictures from our trip. It was such a special time together. Maybe I will share a few more posts from our adventures the next couple days!

A day trip to Mendocino

Mendocino is another quaint little beach town on the California coast. There is a beautiful hike out to a point that looks back at the town and out at the ocean. This time of year there are gray and humpback whales migrating up the coast that you can occasionally see. The last couple of days have been really windy and the water has been too choppy to spot any. When Owen gets bigger we will take him out on a boat to see the whales, one of his mommy's favorite things to do!

Isn't that baby backpack amazing? Owen looked like a prince riding down the path on a camel (not that I'm saying you look like a camel Paul). It even has a shade canopy that can come out to protect him from the sun, which Owen really needs. Thank you so much Uncle Steve and Aunt Cyndi! I'm sure we will make a lot of memories with it over the next many years!

Last year, around this same time, we came to Fort Bragg for our anniversary before Owen arrived. It was our last trip with just Paul and I. It is fun thinking back on when I was pregnant, wondering when our baby boy would arrive, what he would be like and how our life would change. He has only been here 9 months but I can hardly remember what it was like without him.

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Mendocino last year! I was 28 weeks pregnant with Owen!

The ways we have changed

The ways we have changed...

We used to listen to the radio when we were in the car. Now we sing "baby beluga in the deep blue sea.."
We used to eat at the same time. Now we take turns.
We used to think baby drool was yucky. Now Owen gives us big open mouth slobbery kisses right on the lips.
We used to have to set an alarm to wake up. Now our little bug wakes us up bright and early to play.
We used to buy adorable baby things to save for someday. Now we get to use those things.
It used to be just the two of us. Now we're three.

Our life has changed and we couldn't be happier.

My valentine

Thank you for my sweet yellow wild flowers for my hair, a short lived piggy back ride and lots of laughs. I can't imagine a better valentine than you. You sweep me off my feet. I love you Paul!

Owen's first Valentines Day. We are excited to celebrate with our boy. I have so many fun memories of Valentines day growing up. One memory I have is waking up to a trail of M & M's. I don't remember where they lead, just that there was a special little path for me to follow when I woke up. Sometimes the sweet little things show the most love. This year Owen's valentine is a soft little fabric book with ribbon loops around the edges, silky hearts on each page and the words, "I love you" on the front. Happy Valentines Day sweet boy!

I hope you have a wonderful day with your loves, family and friends! Happy Valentines Day from Christy, Paul and Owen!

Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Paul!
You are an amazing husband and daddy. I often think of how grateful I am to have you as my best friend and my sweetheart. I have so much fun with you everyday. I can't imagine a better father for our son. He adores you and gets so excited every time he sees you when you get home from work. We both love you so much! Owen can't quite draw you a picture or make you a gift, but he can give lots of slobbery kisses and clinging "koala hugs", as you call them. You are a manly, brave, loving, hot, strong, sweet and courageous man. We are glad your ours! Happy birthday!
