A trip to the farm

When I was younger, every fall, my family went to the Books Family Farm to pick out pumpkins. Several years ago the family decided to stop hosting a big pumpkin patch. When it came time for Owen's first halloween I was a little sad to not get to take him to Books. We found a new place in town to that we have enjoyed these past two years. I was so excited when I heard that Books Family Farm started doing field trips.

Owen's first field trip! It was such a fun outing with friends. Mr. Book took us on a walk around the farm and told us all about the farm animals, turkeys, pigs, chickens and cows. Owen was so excited. Before we even got started he was chasing the chickens all around. He got to pet a cow and hear a turkey gobble. I think his favorite part was when they asked the kids to help clean up the almonds, still in there husks, that had dropped from at tree. Owen loved picking up the "balls" and throwing them in the bucket. He is such a good helper! He didn't want to stop when it was time to move on to the next thing. He got to quietly go in the chicken coop and collect an egg. At the end of the time they had the kids go out into a small patch of pumpkins and pick one out. He and his friends, with their rain boots and knit hats on, tromping around the field! So adorable!
